Florian Zeller wrote and directed the 2020 drama movie The Father. The film stars Anthony Hopkins, Olivia Colman, Mark Gatiss, Imogen Poots, Rufus Sewell, and Olivia Williams. The Father premiered on 27 January 2020 at the Sundance Film Festival and is scheduled to release theatrically in the United Kingdom by Lionsgate on 8 January 2021.

The plot of the movie follows a man who is struggling with his aging and his daughter, who has recently moved into his flat. Hopkins is cast as Anthony, a father whose mental ability gradually deteriorates in front of his daughter’s eyes.
